Weekly Round-Up # 4

1. Well, Tuesday was Pancake Day and I made pretty good pancakes, if a little thin. I even flipped one! I think it's a bit of a weird day, surely it should just be called Eat-all-the-crap-in-the-world-before-Lent Day. I'm not giving anything up for Lent, I've decided I'm going to try to fit in a little bit of exercise a day, even if I can only manage some sit-ups or something, at least I'm doing it.
2. On Wednesday it was my Guinea Pigs' 1st birthday. I know, I'm sooo sad haha! But I do love the little guys so much. Their names are Archie and Basil and really are the cutest little (well, not so little anymore!) things ever.
3. Been feeling really down about uni recently. It seems that every time I come out a class I just feel deflated and discouraged. I've only got like 3 more months but I just feel no matter how hard I try, I never get anywhere. So, when I saw this, I was like "Yep, sounds good to me".
4. Went to see The Woman In Black on Friday and jees, that movie scared the living daylights out of me! I thought, "Its got Daniel Radcliffe in it, I like Daniel Radcliffe, surely it won't be too scary" but it soo is. I think this was a really good role for Dan after Harry Potter because it's such a different character from how we're used to seeing him. Well done, Dan!
5. Finished my Celia Birtwell Lipbalm that I've had for 2 and a half years (I know, long time!) so that can go on my list of hit-pan products, woo!
Hope you all had a good week :)

Wild Things

T-shirt - Topman / Shorts - Spain / Doc Martens - Gift

This was an outfit I wore last week but never got round to posting. This is one of my more "tomboy" outfits but sometimes I just like to be comfy! Getting really fed up of my frizzy hair! And these photos confirm it - I need to get it cut. Not sure how much to get off, or just to get it trimmed. Anyway, yes, I am wearing a guys t-shirt but does anyone else see loads of stuff they would wear in Topman? It's the same with Primark. Sometimes I think the mens department has more interesting clothes than the womens part. Or maybe I'm just different, haha!

Review: Lush Snow Fairy

So, last week I told you that I had finished my bottle of Snow Fairy shower gel, now I'm going to do my review!

I first smelled the Snow Fairy scent when my little sister bought the lipbalm and it just smelled amazing. It has a really sweet sugary scent (which could be a little sugary for some) with a light floral undertone. This shower gel lathers really well into big soft fluffy bubbles and makes your skin feel smooth and soft. Also the scent lingers on the skin all day and also makes the bathroom smell really nice.

Unfortunately, this product is only on sale at Christmas time but I've tried the Rock Star soap and I would say it smells quite similar to Snow Fairy, really sweet and sugary.

Weekly Round-Up # 3

Not a picture of me, but somewhere I would like to be.

1. I was absolutley right when I said I wouldn't have any spare time this week. As you can see I didn't have any time to post anything on here (sorry!) but my week has been jam packed!

2. On Tuesday I had a lovely Valentine's dinner with my boyfriend at Amore restaurant near where we live. Even though the place was packed out (with a huge queue of people waiting outside!) the food was delicious. We didn't do the whole "gifts" part of Valentine's day, we were quite happy just to go for a nice dinner, but he did get me a beautiful single rose. So sweet :)

3. On Wednesday I caught up with 2 of my girly friends for a couple of drinks. Cue a fun night of excessive drinking, talking about everything under the sun and ending with a bag of chips each on the way home = perfect. However I do not recommened drinking a whole pitcher of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Tea all by yourself. It does not improve your Spanish grammar for uni either, just fyi.

4. I finished another book on my Kindle this wee but this one wasn't a keeper. I think I only stuck with it to the end because I don't like giving up on things, once I start something I have to see it through. Anyway, The book was "This Lullaby" by Sarah Dessen. I think it was aimed at young adults which is usually fine for me, I know I'm a bit older than the target market but most times I enjoy them. It was a bit slow and didn't really do anything for me. I guess I thought it was going to be some big sweeping romance that I would get caught up in but it wasn't.

5. I finished another 2 products this week for my hitting pan challenge. The first was a Lush shower gel called Snow Fairy which I'm sure you've all heard of. I'll do a review of it during the week. The other was just a cheap Chamomile and Lemon Shampoo. Sure it brings out my natural highlights and gives my colour more dimension, but other than that I don't really have anything else to say about it.

6. And finally, this weekend was actually kind of fun. On Friday night we all went round to my aunt and uncle's house for a "Casino Night". Basically we just played card games for fun and eat absolutely delicious food. Yesterday I was off work (Yay!) so I went shopping with my little sister before I went to my boyfriend's cousin's 21st birthday party at night.

All in all, quite a busy week (with not nearly enough uni work done in that time!) and I'm done in! Hopefully next week won't be quite as mad but just as much fun.

Until next time, Adios!

Weekly Round-Up # 2

A little oldie from like 2 years ago

1. Bit of boring week, socially. Next week is gonna be chock-a-block! I've got sooo much uni work to do and a lot of social commitments too. Ahh, burning the candle at both ends!

2. It was my dad's birthday during the week so we had a Chinese take away for dinner which was scrummy, always is, and some lovely, gooey chocolate birthday cake. Hope you had a great day Dad!

3. Keeping up with my product challenge, I finished a Lavender Bath Creme (I'm aiming for a product a week). I think this was part of a Christmas set but I'm not sure where from and it was really only bubble bath so I probably won't do a review on it. It did smell lovely though.

4. This week I've really been getting into New Girl. If you haven't seen it you should give it a try, it's hilarious! The main character is played by Zooey Deschanel, one of my major style icons, and she is sooo funny. I think she's amazing because she's so "real", a little bit quirky and weird but lovely! I love her character, Jess, because she acts the way I think in my head, if that makes any sense haha!

Hope you have a good week, Adios!

Book Review: "Dead to the World" By Charlaine Harris

Rating: 3/5
Genre: Fantasy/Romance/Horror

So, this is the first book I finished on my Kindle! As far as I remember, this is the 4th Sookie Stackhouse Novel. I started reading the first one but I got a bit bored because I already had an idea about what happened through watching the tv series (I am in no way saying that the books aren't as good I just didn't see the point in reading a story when I already knew the ending). This was pretty good but I'm sure the "dramatic" scenes in the book are actually supposed to be more exciting and scary but they just never seem to be put across that way. Maybe it's just the way I'm picturing it in my head, who knows! I'll most likely read the other books in the series because they receive such high praise and I'm curious to see where the storyline ends up.

Review: Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Scrub

So today I am going to review the Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Scrub, which I got aaages ago! I got this as part of Soap and Glory's huge bag/laundry hamper gift set that I got last year for my birthday and I've still not got even half way through the products! This is probably because all the products I received in this set are either full size or super sized. All these products are part of my "Hitting-pan" challenge so I probably won't have to buy any shower gel, body butter etc until Christmas!

Anyway, onto what this product is actually like! I absolutely loved this scrub. I generally use a scrub every time I'm in the shower because I have bumpy skin on the sides of my arms and on the back of my legs so I like to use a scrub to keep my skin smooth and soft. This is quite a heavy-duty scrub as it is salt based with fruit seeds in it to buff away dead skin cells to reveal clean, revitalised skin. It also has almond oil in it to rehydrate the skin after scrubbing. It smells absolutely delicious, it has the signature Soap and Glory scent except possibly a bit fruitier. This scrub works really well and rinses well, not leaving any scrubby bits on your skin and doesn't leave your slin feeling all dry and tight. In fact, it actually leaves a slight residue on your skin which locks in moisture and makes your skin feel lovely and smooth.

I would totally buy this product again because although it's a bit pricey at £6.64, it is a huge tub of product and you don't have to use too much to get good results so it'll probably last a long time.

Until next time, adios!

Weekly Round-Up # 2

1. It has been absolutely freezing this week! Just today there was a thick fog that didn't lift all day, it just grew steadily thicker as the day went on. It's a little bit depressing when Ive been lusting after this post on Niki's blog. Honestly cannot wait to lay out on the beach and enjoy the sunshine.
2. I've been loving my Kindle that my lovely boyfriend bought me for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I've already finished 2 books (for some reason, I read so much faster with the Kindle rather than a regular book), the 4th Sookie Stackhouse novel: "Dead to the World" and "I Heart Vegas". I'll most likely do a review on these books throughout the week.
3. This week I managed to get further in my "hitting pan" on toiletries, meaning that I have so many shower gels, bath foam, body lotions, body butters, facial cleansers etc, that I am on a spending ban until I have finished them all. This week I finished Soap and Glory's Flake Away Body Scrub and I totally recommend it. I'll do a more in depth review during the week.
Films I watched this week: Reservoir Dogs, Ghostbusters, Almost Famous, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Have a great week!

Inspiration "I'm really a mermaid"

All images from Tumblr

Oh, how I long for the summer! Can't wait til me and the girls go on holiday and get to lay on the beach, sip some scrumptious cocktails, swim in the sea and enjoy the sunshine. Someday I'm gonna live in a beach house by the ocean, somewhere that's really warm all year round.

My Pot of Tea

Playsuit - Primark
Necklace - Cherry Loco

Shoes - New Look

It's a lovely day outside, the sun's shinning but it's still really really cold! This is one of my latest purchases from Primark and I'm really happy with it because usually the cut of the playsuits don't suit my shape. I like this one for the 3/4 length sleeves because I don't really like the long sleeves that Primark tend to put on their playsuits, they just end up annoying me. The bottom of the playsuit is a nice length and isn't too fitted, so it skims over curves really nicely. Oh, and the belt that comes with it is actually really good quality, not the usual plasticky rubbish ones.

Tea pot necklace! I bought this necklace at a stall in the city centre where I live. The brand name is Cherry Loco and you should definately check it out if your into acrylic jewellery or something that's just a little bit different. I'm personally lusting after the mermaid pendant because I've always been a HUGE fan of The Little Mermaid. In fact I'm pretty sure when I was little I thought I was The Little Mermaid! haha. Oh, to be 4 years old again!

Adios Amigos!

La Grunge

Jumper - Primark / Leggings - American Apparel / Headband - Primark
Boots - Doc Martens (Christmas present)

Shell Necklace - Topshop / Swallow Bird Necklace - Present

Harley Davidson T-shirt - Urban Outfitters

This outfit is the total opposite of what I wore yesterday! It is freezing today (currently typing this from inside my very warm furry blanket!) so, I was just looking for something to keep me nice and warm. This jumper is one of my favourites, it's so cosy and scoops down at the back so keeps my bottom cosy too! I'm road-testing my new American Apparel black leggings today and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. They don't seem to be see-through (wore a longer t-shirt just incase!) and they're not too tight. Also what makes me really happy is that they are a size small and I'm usually a medium :) Happy Days!

I've had this t-shirt for a while and I love it because it's so soft and fits really well. And my boots. My lovely Docs! I love these to bits and have been taking every opportunity to wear them, unfortunately I'm not out of the wearing them in phase so if I have them on for a long time my heels do start to hurt but I wore them today because I knew that with my cosy socks they would keep me toasty.

Now I'm going to tear through some uni work before I have to go to work, oh woe is me! haha

Adios!

Pretty Clashing Prints

Skirt - Topshop/ Jumper - Bershka
Boots - River Island

Charm Bracelet - Joy / Owl Ring - H+M (set of 4)

I don't always like to dress too "prissy" but sometimes I want to look a little more girly than usual. I like this out fit because it's pretty and cute without taking it too far. I think the chelsea boots give it a rougher edge which tones down any cutsieness.

I bought the boots from River Island back in September but I haven't actually worn them that much, maybe because it's baltic outside and I've been hibernating in my fur lined Pocahontas style boots! I'm hoping to get more wear out of these boots when Spring finally makes an appearance, they'll possibly become my new "going out" shoes because I can't stand the pain of wearing ridiculously high heels and being on my feet for hours at a time. Also, they'll bring another dimension to my nice dresses, changing up the look a bit.

P.S. I took a sneaky wee peak in American Apparel this afternoon on my way home from uni because this week's Grazia has a voucher for 25% off!. I was pretty boring and got plain black leggings but these ones feel so luxurious compared to the £5 ones I usually buy.

Now I'm sitting down to the ever-growing pile of uni work with a cup of chamomile, honey and vanilla tea. Adios amigos!
